Data You Give Us Directly
Search queries
When a visitor enters information into a search box, the request is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. That provider processes the query under its own service and privacy terms. This site does not keep the query terms in a local warrant database.
Messages and contact submissions
If a visitor emails the site, the message may be retained so a reply can be sent. It is handled by the site operator and is not shared outside that operation unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical details may be recorded when a page loads, such as a device’s IP address, browser and version, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent, referring site, and visit timestamps.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. They and analytics tools can help measure which pages receive visits and where people leave. Browser controls can block cookies, though some site functions may change if they are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
Visitor information may support ordinary site operations, including:
- Keeping pages available and improving load speed
- Sending a search request to the provider that operates the search box
- Understanding which reference pages people use
- Finding and repairing technical faults
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Cumberland County warrants or individual warrant records. It provides general directions to Virginia OCIS, the Cumberland court clerks, the sheriff, and other public channels. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a private-person warrant file, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes may be operated by outside companies. Information typed into a partner tool is handled under that provider’s privacy policy, including its retention and sharing practices. The site operator does not control those practices. Read the partner policy before submitting information to its search service.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to official sheriff, court, state, and county sources, along with outside search services. Following a link takes the visitor to another operator. That destination’s privacy policy governs what it does with information submitted there.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to track activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on those partner systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by the site operator. Information may be handled by:
- Search partners that process a query sent through their tool
- Analytics services that measure site traffic
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect the information handled by the site. Internet-connected systems can still be breached or fail, so no promise can be made that data will always remain secure. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive case details unless the information is needed for a specific request.
Users Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If the site operator learns that a person under 18 has submitted information, the operator will take steps to remove it. Juvenile court and law-enforcement records in Virginia also have separate confidentiality rules.
Your Data Rights
Virginia Code section 2.2-3704 addresses requests for existing public records held by government bodies. That Virginia FOIA process is distinct from visitor data held by this private reference site; it does not create a personal-data access right against the site operator. A request about a Cumberland government record should identify the likely office and the record sought.
- Ask a government office for an existing public record, subject to exemptions
- Request clarification or a cost estimate when an office needs more detail
- Contact the site operator about information sent directly in a message
- Use browser controls to manage cookies stored on your own device
See Virginia Code § 2.2-3704 for the state public-record response rules.
Updates to This Policy
The policy may change as site functions or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Visitors who want to follow changes should review this page from time to time.
